Montessori Preschool Program

Our primary program will introduce children aged 4-6 years (3-year-olds admitted with prior pre-k experience or instructor approval) to the Montessori method, focusing on the development of the whole child ~ intellectual, social/emotional and physical ~ through directed and independent hands-on learning opportunities and by supporting their individual interest and ability levels while strengthening motivation, promoting attention and encouraging responsibility.

ROUTINE: An environment that is structured and predictable allows your child to develop confidence and self-esteem and create a balance between dependence and independence organically and without fear or anxiety.

MONTESSORI METHOD: Created by Dr. Maria Montessori, the Montessori Method of educating children is student-led and self-paced, allowing children to work with specifically designed manipulative materials that invite exploration and engage their senses in the process of learning. Individual students follow their own curiosity at their own pace, taking the time they need to fully understand each concept and meet individualized learning goals.

OUR LEARNING SPACE: Within the community of a multi-age classroom—designed to create natural opportunities for independence, citizenship, and accountability—you won’t see desks, nor will the teacher stand at the front delivering a lesson to all. Instead you’ll find children happily working individually or in small groups, at tables or on mats, cushions or comfy chairs that delineate their own space.

ACTIVITY CYCLE: The work cycle involves selecting an easily accessible activity displayed on open shelving, performing it for as long as it remains interesting, cleaning up the activity and returning it to the shelf, then making another work choice. This cycle respects individual variations in the learning process, facilitates development of coordination, concentration, independence, and a sense of order, while facilitating the child’s assimilation of information.

Children enrolled in Little Me Studio’s Montessori Preschool Program are admitted for the full session and tuition is not subject to change due to illness, absence, family vacation, or emergency closings.
